In our time we've been known to do one or two covers, basically 'cos we're too lazy to write our own stuff! Here's a list of covers we have done, and where you can find them, if anywhere.
AGNOSTIC FRONT - Power
Never recorded. Played when we first formed, sounded nothing like the original.
ALTERED IMAGES - Happy Birthday
Never recorded. Spur of the moment song done at our second ever gig. Seem to remember doing a verse and a chorus and giving it up as a bad job
ANGRY SAMOANS - Light's Out
Never recorded. Started doing live now, although the kids all think it's
by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones! God bless 'em!
ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT - D.S.F.A.
Never recorded. Didn't make it out of the practice room, but is on one truly abysmal practice tape somewhere. First cover attempted.
BLITZ - Never Surrender
On "Born To Booze". A good version if I do say so myself, if we all decide to play it at the same time.
Bored of it now mind!
BRUISERS - Iron Chin
On "You Make Me Sick" comp and "Now And Again". Stoneys idea, nothing to do with me. The cider was talking.
CHAS & DAVE - Sideboard
Song
Practiced a few times, never really worked, although I convinced myself it
would. Chas & Dave are a favourite, even though they're a couple of
Cockney gits!
CIRCLE JERKS - Wonderful
Never recorded. Another of the first songs we ever did. You try doing the whistle solo in the middle of this song through a £10.99 microphone from the Grattan catalogue, and you'll understand why it was dropped.
DAG NASTY - Under Your Influence
Never recorded. Played it live a fair few times, but got bored shitless of it.
EXPLOITED - Dead Cities
Never recorded. A live favorites. Still don't know the words.
FEAR - Living In The City
Never recorded. The only airing of this song outside of the practice room was at a
sound check in London. Dropped directly after sound check.
FEAR - Responsibility
On "You Make Me Sick" comp and "Now And Again". Personally I reckon a blistering version. Unfortunately not many agree. When played live 95% of people would go " Who the fucking hell are Fear".
LYNARD SKYNARD - Sweet Home Alabama
Never recorded. Don't ask why we did this song, I'll never understand. Seemed
to go down well in the south of the U.S. for some reason. They thought it was irony, oh how little did they know.
MACC LADS - Julie The Schooly
On "Covered By Shit" Macc Lads tribute album. First recording with Paul Enema on guitar, cost a grand total of £37 to do. Hit and miss live depending how "Right On" the crowd are.
MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES - Never Lose My Wallet
Never recorded. Bright idea, do a bosstones ska-y song and play it punk as fuck. Suffice to say we never subjected a paying audience to this.
MINOR THREAT - Stepping Stone
Never recorded. Brilliant at first, became very irritating after 6 months.
MISFITS - 20 Eyes
Never recorded. Played umpteen times live. God bless the Misfits, there's about a dozen songs
I'd do by them.
MURPHYS LAW - Stay Gold
On "You Make Me Sick" comp and "Now And Again". Probably the worst cover we recorded by far. Ballsed it up in the studio, and had no money and basically couldn't be arsed to put it right.
NOFX - Fuck The Kids
Never recorded. Played three times in one gig. Never played again.
OASIS - Half the world away
Never recorded. The theme tune to the Royal Family, which Stoney used to play by
his self for reasons known only to him, to a bemused audience, whilst the rest of us fucked off to the bar for a pint.
PETER & THE TEST TUBE BABIES - Banned From The Pubs
On "Now And Again". Pointless to record, but always went down well live. If I could remember the words.
RANCID - Roots Radicals
Hidden track on "Born On Your Knees". Twice as fast as the original, with added "YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE" chants at the end, which upset a few people.
SEX PISTOLS - Pretty Vacant
Never recorded. Played once live in Newcastle. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Cat had gone for a piss.
SHAM 69 - If The Kids Are United
Never recorded. Pulled out of the bag a couple of times. Play it badly but no one cares or notices.
SLAPSHOT - Had Enough
Never recorded. Good version I thought. Too fast though, couldn't fit the words in.
S.O.D. - United Forces
Never recorded. Another song we did when we first started. What were we thinking?
SUICIDAL TENDENCIES - Fascist Pig
Never recorded. Played once at a pub in Bradford, 'cos we had to play for 2 hours. Sounded nothing at all like it, except for the chorus.
UNDERTONES - Teenage Kicks
Never recorded. Had a spell last year of doing this at gigs. Why I'll never know. Probably 'cos its a piece of piss to play when your hammered!
